Udupi: Paddy field workers felicitated by ICYM

Udupi, Jun 16: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) on the eve of their golden jubilee celebrations felicitated paddy field workers in the fields of Julian Danti near Udyavar Kutpady Higher Primary School.

District BJP morcha president, Veena Shetty commended the workers and the ICYM. Udupi block Congress vice president, Sadashiva Ameen Kattegudde said that it is unfortunate that we are staying away from agriculture these days. “Our forefathers were healthy because of cultivation. We should encourage families in Udyavar and Kadekar villages who have indulged in agriculture for several years. Though young people are backward in agriculture, it is a matter of joy that they are encouraging farmers.”



The ICYM golden jubilee festival committee of St Francis Xavier church, as part of its 17th programme, donated shawls, flower garlands and items used for farming to 35 women and 10 men from Udyavar, Kuthpady and Kadekar.

Former taluk panchayat vice president, Ganesh Kumar, Udyavar gram panchayat vice president, Riaz Palli, rural Congress president, Girish Kumar, entrepreneur, Santhosh Kumar, gram panchayat member, Lakshman, Lawrence D’ Sa, Ramdoot gym school president, Prasanna Kumar, Ayub Saheb, ICYM president, Royal Castelino, secretary, Priyanka D’Souza, ICYM golden jubilee festival committee’s, Godfrey D’ Souza, Maxim D’ Silva, Ronald D’ Souza, Erol Gonsalves, Julian Danti, Royston Luis, Merwin D’ Almeida, Prem Menezes and others were present.

ICYM advisor, Roys Fernandes welcomed the gathering. Julia D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks. Festival programme convenor, Steven Colaco Udyavar compered the programme.
