Karkala: Complaint about gang attacking family members

Karkala, Jun 15: In an incident which reportedly happened on the night of Saturday June 13 at Tellar Road in Durg village near here, a gang forced its way into the residence of a family and thrashed the family members. It is said that there was dispute between the two sides over execution of work.

There was a long-standing dispute between the younger brother of Jagadish Sunil Saphaliga living at Tellar Road and the accused, Rajesh Shetty, Suresh, Dinesh Poojary,Yogeesh Shetty and a few others. On account of this enmity, the gang having about seven to eight members formed an illegal assembly, came by car and auto rickshaw duly holding lethal weapons, illegally entered the house of the victims, beat up Jagadish Sunil Saphaliga and went away after posing death threats.

It is said that when younger sisters of Jagadish, Swathi and Satyavathi, as well as mother, Shantha Saphaliga, tried to shield Jagadish, the accused pushed them away, used abusive language against them and also posed death threats to them.

In this respect, a case was registered in Karkala rural police station.
