Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 9: Twenty-three fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while no new cases were detected in Udupi on Tuesday June 9.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 42,914 people have been screened so far. A total of 9,851 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 9,594 have tested negative, and 218 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 96 are currently active. As many as 115 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.
Sixteen patients were discharged from Wenlock on Tuesday. These include 10 males, five females and a boy.
As many as 95 samples were sent for testing on Tuesday. Reports of 199 samples were received on Tuesday, out of which 23 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 39 samples are awaited.
In Dakshina Kannada, among the 23 patients, who are all males, two are Maharashtra returnees, three have come from Dubai and 18 are Saudi returnees. All 23 of them have been admitted to the designated COVID hospital in the district.
As many as 42 persons were admitted on Tuesday for observation.
A total of 5,253 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Tuesday, one case of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,472 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 78 on Tuesday, and a total of 4,843 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 305 persons are currently in home quarantine and 185 people under institutional quarantine.
A total of 82 people are in isolation wards, including eight fresh admissions on Tuesday. Among them, three are coronavirus suspects, while four have SARI and one influenza-like illness.
As many as 788 people, including seven on Tuesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 12,557 samples have been collected so far, including 17 on Tuesday. Out of them, 11,578 samples have turned out to be negative, including 12 on Tuesday, and 33 reports are awaited. As many as 946 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district. As many as 304 patients have been discharged including 30 on Tuesday, and 641 cases are active. One death has occurred so far.
