Mumbai: From 75 to 1, demand for Shramik special trains witness drop

Mumbai, Jun 3: While the demand for Shramik special trains had reached 75 on May 25, it has now slipped to one a day. The trains were introduced to help migrants reach their home states.

A total of 822 trains have operated from Mahahrashtra since May 2. These special trains ferried over 12 lac passengers. A senior official stated that there was a request of operating only three trains on June 1 and only one on June 2.

Centrail Railway has operated over 598 trains, Western Railway 191, Konkan and South Central Railway with 15 and 18 trains respectively. While Central Railway carried 8.52 lac passengers, Western Railway reported carrying over 2.97 lac migrants.
