Mangaluru, Jun 2: The private buses which had fallen silent about two and half months back in both Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts do handle coronavirus crisis, partially began operations on Monday June 1. Except a few buses in the early hours and again in the late evenings, the number of passengers using the bus facility was very less.
The buses can carry only 50 percent of their passenger capacity to maintain social distance. Each bus is allowed between 30 and 35 passengers to get seated and every bus was sanitized at the end of every trip. The passengers were provided with sanitizers and those not wearing masks were refused entry into buses.

However, in the early morning and late evening, a few city buses were found to be packed with passengers. Even though the buses can carry only 50 percent of passengers, because of shortage of buses, passengers were seen standing very close to each other in a few buses.
