Mangaluru, Jun 1: In a fight between two gangs at Arasugudde, Kateel, Yekkar on Sunday night, a person was killed and two had suffered grievous injures.
The rivalry between the two gangs was reported as rivalry relating to sand mafia.
However, during their primary investigation, the police reportedly have found out that personal rivalry and abusive comments posted in WhatsApp group had given rise to rivalry between them.
It may be recalled, Keertan (20) from Marakada, was murdered. Keertan's accomplices Nitin (20) and another Manesh (20), sustained serious injuries.

Mangaluru, Jun 1: On the night of Sunday May 31, two gangs fought with one another on frivolous matter at Arasugudde, Bajpe near Kateel Yekkar. On this occasion, a person identified as Keertan (20) from Marakada here, was murdered. Keertan's accomplices Nitin (20) and another Manesh (20), sustained serious injuries.
It is said that the attack is related to pre-existing enmity on the issue of sand mining.
The gang which is said to be responsible for this murder, as well as Keertan and his injured friends reportedly were together in the past and were close friends. In the recent past, differences arose between them on account of some non-issue, sources said.
Keertan, Nitin, and Manesh had joined together at Bajpe Arasugudde on Sunday night. It is said that they also had invited the rival gang to reach there. After the rival gang came there, verbal friction between the gangs arose, culminating in the rival gang attacking Keertan and his followers with daggers. Keertan, who suffered deep injuries in the attack, died later. Nitin and the other injured person stand hospitalized. Their condition is stated to be serious.
Senior police officials have visited the spot and undertook scrutiny and investigation. The accused have fled and the Bajpe police are searching for them.
