Mangaluru, May 31: After a person from Boliyar tested positive for coronavirus, the district administration on Sunday May 31 declared the area of Kapikad, Boliyar village as a containment zone.
The person had arrived from Mumbai recently and was quarantined in a facility at Deralakatte. However, he was sent back home even before his test sample result was out. He was later found to have contracted the virus.
Following this, the district administration declared the area as a containment zone, with an open area on the east, residences of Ummar Farooq and Khalid Abdul Shakoor on the west, Kinnimane temple on the north and houses of Yakub, Riyaz, Ibrahim and Safiya on the south marking the boundaries of the zone.
The buffer zone around this area is bound by Basheer House on the east, an open area on the west, PWD road on the north and house belonging to Abdul Khader on the south.
There are 25 residential houses within the zone and no shops. The total population is 320.
For effective implementation of the coronavirus control measures, senior assistant director of horticulture of zilla panchayat has been sppointed incident commander for the containment zone.
