Mangaluru/Udupi, May 31: On the 68th day of the lockdown, 14 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 10 were detected in Udupi on Sunday May 31.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 42,572 people have been screened so far, including 32 on Sunday. Three people are currently quarantined in NIT-K Suratkal facility and 15 have been sent home. Another 17 are currently quarantined in ESI hospital. Two persons were discharged from ESI on Sunday.
A total of 8,947 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 8,583 have tested negative, and 127 positive, excluding 8 persons of DK in another district. Out of these, 70 are currently active. As many as 16 persons have recovered and 56 been discharged, and seven deaths have occured so far.
Twelve patients were discharged from Wenlock on Sunday. These include two children aged 11 and 3.
As many as 37 samples were sent for testing on Sunday. Reports of 120 samples were received on Sunday, 14 of which tested positive and 106 negative.
The new patients include 9 who returned from Maharashtra, and one each from Doha and Malaysia. Three others contacts of another patient, a resident of Kenjar who also returned from Maharashtra.
Reports of 231 samples are awaited. As many as 29 persons have been admitted for observation.
A total of 4,507 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Sunday, 9 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
Out of the 71 coronavirus patients in Wenlock hospital, condition of 70 is stable, while a 40-year-old woman who is suffering from multiple health problems is in the ICU.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 3,869 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 83 on Sunday, and a total of 4,769 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 19 on Sunday. As many as 39 persons are currently in home quarantine.
Altogether, 13 high-risk persons and 51 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 69 people are in isolation wards, including 9 fresh admissions on Sunday. Among them, one is a coronavirus suspect, while 5 have SARI and three influenza-like illness.
As many as 709 people, including four on Sunday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 12,502 samples have been collected so far, including 1,501 on Sunday, out of which 1,481 are from hotspots. Out of them, 5,058 samples have turned out to be negative, including 154 on Sunday, and 7,257 reports are awaited. As many as 187 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 10 on Sunday. Sixty-four among them have been discharged, and 122 are active. One death has occured so far.
Out of the ten cases reported on Sunday, nine are persons who returned from Maharashtra, and one from Doha.
