Mangaluru: After being sent home from quarantine centre, Mumbai-returnee tests positive

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, May 31: In what is being termed as a costly mistake by the district administration, a Mumbai-returnee who was sent home from quarantine centre has now tested positive.

A resident of Boliyar, the person had recently returned from Mumbai and had been placed in a quarantine centre in Deralakatte as per protocol.

However, he was released from quarantine and sent home even before the test results were out, said sources.

The test result which was received on Saturday May 30 confirmed that he had contracted coronavirus.

The same day, he was shifted from his home to Wenlock hospital, which is exclusively treating coronavirus patients.

Sources said that he was released from the quarantine centre and sent home, he went out and visited several places in and around Boliyar. He also spent time with his family.

Residents in Boliyar are now in a state of anxiety, as they fear spread of coronavirus in their area.

Whosoever a travelled should be strictly following the
procedure of self isolation for 14days. If for any reason
any symptoms appear during this period he/she should be tested . If there are symptoms or no symptoms it is necessary to follow the social distance and mask procedure as a responsible citizen of the country.

At first they told 28 days quarantine, then it was reduced to 21 days and further reduced to 14 days. Now it is just 7 days. Let them go after 7 days and their responsibility is over.

In next few days there will be no quarantine as the virus spreads, you will be on your own.

The containment zone will be restricted to your own house or flat.

Let's not blame the Govt and be more responsible by protecting our families and us by taking precautions and increasing our immunity.

People are busy pointing fingers at administration. When Dubai returnee‘s were put up in Govt Quarantine people suggested home Quarantine. If we had strictly followed the home quarantine in the initial days of lockdown, these things wouldn’t have come up. Its better to ask ourself whether we have done our duties right rather than pointing at Administration.

Even if they were sent home, they are not supposed to go out right?

I think district administrators have not conveyed them another 15 days of strict home quarantine???

Now if the said person is asymptotic and if he was wearing masks, maintaining social distance... then nothing much to worry!

This is why strict institutional quarantine is required for atleast 14 days because most people think corona is a joke. This fellow irresponsibly went around meeting people? How many did he end up infecting? Why not make a law that strictly punishes such jokers with 6 months jail time who purposely violate home quarantine? This is a health emergency and no one seems to realise this including the district administration who seem to be in a hurry to release quarantined fellows!!!!

if a people's representative questions the district administration's modus operandi on the crisis, you people feel pinched somewhere as they are talking against your govt, your messiah and all... the question here to the administration on why did they allow someone waiting result to go home? the guy must be from nationalist gang! not from the tabligi gang for sure.
