Mangaluru, May 29: As there are instructions from the state government to open temples from June 1 onwards, most of the temples are preparing themselves to receive devotees. But the modalities and exact plan are pending as the government circular has not yet been received by them.

Richest temple in the state, Kukke Subrahmanya temple, Dharmasthala Lord Manjunatheshwara temple, Kateel Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple, Kollur Goddess Mookambika temple, Kadri Lord Manjunatheshwara temple and Mangaladevi templle in Mangaluru, and Southadka Lord Mahaganapathi temple are among the noted temples which will be allowing the devotees to pay obeisance at the temples and offer services.

Discussions about the reopening of temple door at Mandarthi Durgaparameshwari temple at Mandarthi were held on Thursday. It was decided that the devotees have to maintain social distance when visiting the temple, and stress should be laid on hygiene, and that the visitors should wear masks.

At Puttur Lord Mahalingeshwara temple, meeting led by administrative officer, Dr Yatish Ullal, has been convened on May 29. At Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara temple, special oblation, ceremonial bath and puja for the general welfare of the world are being organized. President of the temple governing council, H S Sairam, has requested people to wear face masks and maintain social distance when visiting the temple complex.

In the interests of security, entry of the general public into Sri Krishna Math at Udupi has been restricted for 15 more days, said Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Admar Math.

Churches

Churches have not yet received the set of rules and regulations from the government on beginning of masses in churches. Public relations officer at Bishop's House Mangaluru, Victor Vijay Lobo, stated that a decision will be taken after the government’s instructions are received. The same principle will be followed in Udupi diocese too.

Mosques

Udupi Samyukta Qazi, Bekal Ibrahim Musliyar, has decided to arrange for taps in place of water tanks in mosques for cleaning oneself. He said that children and seniors have to offer namaz at homes instead of mosques and that physical distance has to be maintained in mosques and that the clothes used during the namaz have to be brought by individuals on their own.

Dakshina Kannada district Qazi, Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar, said that further decision will be taken on the basis of Waqf Board order that is expected to be received soon.

Well first and foremost it is not clear whether total lock down will be continued every Sunday in Lock down 5.0. In case yes then Church's will be open on weekdays and one can attend Mass on weekdays. Let the worship places be open, it's too long a period to deprive the faithful from Spiritual nourishment through the celebration of Sacraments.
