Udupi, May 26: Two areas in Udupi district have been officially declared as containment zones by the district deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh on Tuesday, May 26, after coronavirus cases were reported from the respective areas.
Heroor village in Brahmavar taluk and Moodabettu village in Kaup taluk have been identified as the two containment zones.
Heroor village containment zone border has Marikatte on the east as its boundary, while on the west is NH-66. In the north, the boundary is marked by Heroor area. The south boundary is marked by Bandasale.
Meanwhile, the buffer zone boundary in the east is Aroor village, in the west, the Baikady village, in the north it is the Chantharu village and the south it is the Uppoor village.
Within the containment zones, there are 76 houses with 672 population and over nine shops.
In the Moodubettu village, the containment zone boundary in the east is the 2nd Cross Road and PHC, in the west 4th Cross Road (east portion), while in the north, it is the Z P Road and the Kanyana Layout Road in the south. The containment area contains 60 houses with a population of 275.
On the other hand, the buffer zone boundary in the east is Kurkala village, for the west, it is the Mattu village, in the north Yenagudde village and south it is the Pangala village.
To overlook the effective implementation of COVID-19 prevention measures, Kundapur assistant commissioner Raju K has been appointed as the incident commander for all the four areas.
