Udupi, May 26: The town police station here has received a complaint about alleged robbery which happened during the early hours of the day at Beedinagude here on Monday, May 25.
The complainant, identified as Vijay Jadhav, son of Tukaram Jadhav, residing in Shreyas Building at Bannanje here is engaged in converting old gold ornaments into gold bars by melting them. He conducts this activity on the second floor of Lakshmi Trade Centre near Beedinagudde Circle here.

On Monday, he had melted old gold he had received from jewellers and gold merchants and converted them into bars. He had placed bars weighing about 1,227 grams worth about Rs 45 lac in a bag and was opening the lock of the shutter of his shop at around 5.30 am when two unidentified persons wearing masks and helmets suddenly approached him. The two unexpectedly and forcibly snatched away the bag containing the gold bars and escaped, the complainant said.
The personnel of the town station here registered a case and started investigation.
