Mangaluru, May 25: Domestic flight operations have resumed across the country which has provided much-needed relief to stranded persons. The recommencement of domestic operations was also witnessed at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA). The airport was fully equipped up with all arrangements in line as per MOCA SOP to undertake domestic operations. The first flight of Indigo 6E0279 from Bengaluru landed at 19:05 hrs on Monday, followed by the next flight of SpiceJet which had a scheduled arrival at 21:15 hrs.
As per an earlier report, the flights from Mangaluru International Airport scheduled to depart for Mumbai and Chennai on Monday, May 25 were cancelled.
The cancellations were made reportedly because of non-availability of enough passengers and technical reasons.
Out of six flights scheduled, four were cancelled on Monday. Therefore, on the first day of resumption of flights after lockdown, only two flights were in operation.
Flights SG353 and 6E5328 to Mumbai have been cancelled, along with flight 6E7139 to Chennai and flight SG1027 to Bengaluru. All these flights were supposed to depart on earlier in the morning today.
Monday was the first day of the resumption of domestic flights across the country after two months of lockdown over coronavirus outbreak. Strict guidelines have been issued for travellers concerning social distancing and use of masks. There is also a restriction on the number of passengers per flight.
