Is there clarity on travel from Bangalore in private car to Karkala to pick up stranded family and return to Bangalore next day? Any pointers would be helpful. No plans to move around in Karkala just stay indoors for a night before return journey next day.

It is in the self-interest of Udupi and Karkala to go into self-imposed curfew to prevent the virus from infecting healthy people. A period of 30 days curfew with no one stepping out of their houses should be enough. We have food stored upto 45 days already and just await the decision. Karkala has many senior citizens and vulnerable people who are currently very worried about the future. We should not panic and need to join together and drive the virus from our beautiful place.

Sir, I can see that you are a brave person. But I am worried for my parents and grandparents. There are many other worried comments from people in Udupi and Karkala. The recent spike is creating confusion. There are reports that people are paying the quarantine lodge owners to escape and show up only for the last day medical tests. I dont think the first 21 days lockdown went smoothly. We should have given a 2-3 days notice and then a full 21 days total curfew to shutdown the virus. I feel we can still do it before the rainy season otherwise it may be too late. Its just my personal view, sorry if I upset anybody.

    Please do not fear...
Please ask parents and grandparents to stay back home..
Soon government will send all corona people to hospital so that outside society will be clean..

By year end vaccine may be available.. till that time take extra care.. like maintain social distance, washing hands frequently etc..

Mumbai was also absolutely safe till end of February, 2020.
Local Trains were perfectly functioning till 21st March, 2020
Ever since overseas flights landed, cases and infectious started raising and spreading everywhere.
Struck up migrants, tourists and students were quite safe till then we're later became traumatized and their movement in frustration caused more infection.

The fact remains that we have done roughly 30 lakh tests for a country of 134 crore people. Usa has done 1.5 crore tests for a country of 30 crore people. Initially the govt permitted only govt hospitals to test. Had the private hospitals been given permission, virus clusters could have been identified by large scale testing and the spread could have been minimized a lot more. Udupi got its testing lab a few days ago. This is too late now.

From green Zone without any cases to getting into redzone hotspot with 70 plus cases we see all possibilities of Udupi taking over Dakshina Kannada in a few days. This is really tragic and just a result of bad decisions.. !!

It was a big blunder to open seva sindhu app and enabling people migrations.

Rare cases accepting stranded foreigners is ok but not statewise migration that too from hotspots..

    Now you cannot reverse that..
Local people need to struggle unnecessarily

    Sri,

What I believe ( i may be wrong), Govt knows that the no matter what we do corona is inevitable until we have a vaccine. Looking at the recent developments like opening up most businesses, revising quarantine guidelines, allowing people to come in, minimizing the seal-down boundaries, GOVT is slowly moving towards HERD Immunity.

We have to take our precautions and learn to LIVE with CORONA for atleast few more months. Stay Safe, Stay Positive and Protect oneself and family.

Trying to achieve herd immunity naturally is very, very bad idea because the stress on both health infrastructure and community will be too high leading to a LOT of preventable deaths. It has to be as slow as possible, which itself is pretty fast considering our population density.

More over recovered patients to have only short term immunity. Long term immunity not proved.

Well ; administration has done their best in initial days to curb the spread of virus and then comes the time when the very same administration gives permission to people from Corona epicentre ( mumbai / maharashtra ) people to enter the state. Arent they wise? When majority of the cases and holding the highest number of positive cases in the entire country ; it was very much necessary for the centre and the state administration to isolate the said state and not allow migration of people. Failing which the entire country now is in danger witj fear of virus spread due people migrating from mumbai into carious states.

They should have advised and arranged people to get back home when exposure was very low and then put in place a lockdown... Opening up the borders when exposure is high will only spread the virus even to remote areas which is currently happening.. this govt works the opposite.. 80pc people of India will suffer with corona or through economic conditions just cause this govt wanted to protect the elite 20pc... And this will inturn effect the whole of population now...

Instant complete lockdown was a huge blunder and continuing without partial lifting for migrants to return in phased manner has now made us lose all control in face of their desperation. we have to pay a heavy price for this.

Better to have all major hospitals certified for testing Covid. They have the ability to do so since their labs are way better and skilled technicians who can adapt. Govt can provide some financial aid but it is also in the best interests of the hospitals.
