Mangaluru, May 24: Lockdown 4.0 is in force all over the state of Karnataka and the norms are relaxed. The state government has also given the go ahead for the private buses to start operations. However, the bus owners of Dakshina Kannada district are in confusion as the district administration has not yet issued them guidelines that need to be followed during transportation of passengers by buses.
Private bus owners of the district are saying that they will start operating buses from June 1 in all parts of the district including Mangaluru city. Now they are just waiting for the guidelines to be issued by the district administration.
So far only some government buses are plying in the district of Dakshina Kannada. Government buses are not operating in the city of Mangaluru. Usually 40 buses used to operate in the city earlier. District-in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary had already held a meeting and had asked the concerned officials of KSRTC to start operating government city buses. However, the service has still not started.
The private bus owners of the city are confused as to how many times the bus needs to be sanitized if operated daily. Also there is no clarity over the number of passengers per trip, there are doubts over necessity to keep hand sanitizers in the bus. It is not clear if the buses have to ply on specified routes only and also if the fare can be increased.
Only complete guidelines issued in this regard by the district administration will resolve the confusion in the minds of the bus owners, which will facilitate private bus operations from June 1.
