Kundapur, May 24: An unidentified vehicle rammed into a bike at Trasi on national highway 66 at around 8.30 pm on Saturday, May 23. Both the bike rider and pillion got seriously injured. Rider lost his life on the way to the hospital while the pillion is in a critical condition at Ajjarakad hospital in Udupi.
The deceased bike rider is identified as Praveen, a resident of Heberu, Paduvari village of Byndoor. The pillion, who is in critical condition is identified as Shankar, a resident of Heberu, Pduvari village of Byndoor.
It is suspected that the Hero Honda Splendour bike bearing registration number KA 20 J 8758 was plying from Kundapur to Byndoor. The accident took place near Trasi beach itself.
There are no street lights on the highway. In addition, due to lockdown restrictions, very few vehicles were plying on the roads. This helped the vehicle that collided with the bike to escape.
Ibrahim Gangolli, who is known for his Good Samaritan works, and his team arrived to the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital in an ambulance. The body of the bike rider is kept in the mortuary of Kundapur government hospital.
A case in this connection is registered at Gangolli police station.
