He said that the SSLC examinations which will begin on June 25, will not be held in containment zones. "If the area where the examination centre is located is declared as containment zone at around the date of the examination, the students of those zones will be allowed to appear in supplementary examinations," he added.
Kumar revealed that when reopening the schools, the ministry of human resources development of the central government guidelines will have to be adhered. Therefore, in normal course, students in supplementary examinations are treated as repeat students. But students who could not appear because of their area falling under containment zones, will be treated as freshers and given a chance in the supplementary examinations," he stated.
The minister insisted that holding of SSLC examination has become necessary in the interests of the students of the state and not to serve someone's prestige. "SSLC examinations are a major turning point in the academic life of students. Performance in that examination is an important yardstick. Therefore, we have no other go but to hold the examination. Even most of the students from the state want the examinations to be held," he added.
