Bengaluru, May 22 (IANS): Karnataka registered 138 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, raising the state's tally to 1,743, an official said on Friday.
The new cases were reported between 5 pm on Thursday and 5 pm on Friday. The total cases include 1,104 active, 597 cured patients and 41 deaths.
On Friday, 26 patients were discharged, including two in Bagalkote, one each in Belagavi and Dakshina Kannada, four in Vijayapura, five in Kalaburagi, six in Bengaluru Urban and seven in Davangere.

Across the state, 19 patients are admitted in ICUs.
In Karnataka, 1.86 lakh people have been tested so far for coronavirus infection, of which 1.83 lakh tested negative.
Meanwhile, cases spiked in Tumkur, Raichuru, Vijayapura, Chikkaballapura, and Hassan. Among the new cases, Chikkaballapura contributed 45, followed by Hassan (14), Raichur (10), Tumkur and Mandya (8 each), Chikkaballapura (7), Bidar and Vijayapura (6 each), Bengaluru Urban and Rural (5 each), Bidar, Haveri, Udupi and Davangere (3 each), Dharwad, Yadagiri and Shivamogga (2 each) and Bagalkote, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Chitradurga (1 each).
A majority of the cases reported travel history to Maharashtra, India's COVID hotspot.
Bengaluru Urban has so far seen nine deaths, followed by Kalaburagi (7), Dakshina Kannada (5) and Davangere and Vijayapura (4 each), and remaining from other districts.
Of the total 1,743 cases, 9 per cent were senior citizens, 63 per cent men and 37 per cent women. The state's patient discharge rate has fallen to 34 per cent.
