Mangaluru/Udupi, May 20: One person tested positive in Dakshina Kannada (DK), while six fresh cases were detected in Udupi on Wednesday May 20. Three people who have cured were discharged on Wednesday.
As reported earlier, a 40-year-old resident of Neermarga tested positive in DK on Wednesday. She had travelled from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. She is admitted to Wenlock COVID hospital.
Three patients who were discharged are a 62-year-old man from Boloor, his 11-year-old granddaughter and a 16-year-old girl from Bantwal.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 41,594 people have been screened so far, including 45 on Wednesday. As many as 32 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Suratkal quarantine facility with 14 new admissions. Another 14 are quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 5,720 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 5,088 tested negative, and 55 positive, out of which 30 are currently active. As many as 20 persons have recovered and been discharged, and five deaths have occurred so far.
Out of the 55 positive cases, 49 are from Dakshina Kannada and six patients are from other districts.
As many as 302 samples were sent for testing on Wednesday. Reports of 181 samples were received on Wednesday out of which 181 tested negative and one positive.
Reports of 428 samples are awaited. As many as 13 people have been admitted for observation.
A total of 3,662 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Wednesday, 11 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
A press release from the deputy commissioner said that Nadumane area in Kudupu and Kuttikal area in Neermarga have been declared containment zones.
A total of 23,329 migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Jharkhand have been sent home by special Shramik trains.
Udupi
As reported earlier, six people who had returned from Mumbai tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday. The patients have been identified as females aged 15, 31, 44, and 47, and male aged 55 and 74. All were in quarantine and are now admitted to Dr TMA Pai Covid hospital.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 3,357 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 31 on Wednesday, and a total of 4,184 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 85 on Wednesday. As many as 366 persons are currently in home quarantine.
Altogether, 51 high-risk persons and four low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 94 people are in isolation wards, including 20 fresh admissions on Wednesday. Among them, four are coronavirus suspect, while nine others have SARI and seven influenza-like illness.
As many as 547 people, including 13 on Wednesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 3,112 samples have been collected so far, including 420 on Wednesday, among whom 50 are coronavirus contacts. Out of them, 2,103 samples have turned out to be negative, and 987 reports are awaited. Twenty-two confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including a death. Three have recovered, and 18 are active.
