Mangaluru/Udupi, May 10: On the 54th day of the lockdown, two new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while no new case was detected in Udupi on Sunday May 17.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 41,296 people have been screened so far, including 49 on Sunday. As many as 33 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Suratkal quarantine facility. Another 9 are currently quarantined in ESI hospital. One person was discharged from ESI on Sunday.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 5,053 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 4,889 tested negative, and 52 positive, out of which 31 are currently active. As many as 16 persons have recovered and been discharged, and five deaths have occured so far.
Out of the 52 positive cases, 46 are from Dakshina Kannada and six patients are from other districts.
As many as 96 samples were sent for testing on Sunday. Reports of 49 samples were received on Sunday, two of which tested positive.
The new patients are a 31-year-old male from Jeppu Patna with travel history to Delhi, and a 34-year-old pregnant lady who returned from Mumbai on May 14.
Reports of 112 samples are awaited. As many as 25 persons have been admitted for observation.
A total of 33,449 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Sunday, 11 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
A total of 18,918 migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Jharkhand have been sent home by special Shramik trains.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 3,206 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 85 on Sunday, and a total of 3,849 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 106 on Sunday. As many as 621 persons are currently in home quarantine.
Altogether, 43 high-risk persons and 4 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 84 people are in isolation wards, including 16 fresh admissions on Sunday. Among them, one is a coronavirus suspect, while 12 have SARI and three influenza-like illness.
As many as 506 people, including 7 on Sunday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 2,201 samples have been collected so far, including 230 on Sunday, among whom two are coronavirus contacts. Out of them, 1,850 samples have turned out to be negative, and 341 reports are awaited. Ten confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including a 54-year-old person who died of heart attack on Saturday May 16. Three have recovered, and six are active, all of whom returned from Dubai.
