Bengaluru, May 17: Scores of people are facing issues due to lockdown. Many are stranded in different places due to lack of transport facilitiies. In a bigger jolt for such people, the private bus operators' association has decided not to take to roads for another four months, according to reports.
Private buses have been off-road for two months due to the lockdown. This has become a big burden to the owners of private buses. Hence the association of private bus owners has urged the government to waive the road tax. It has also warned of not operating the buses if the government does not yield to their demand.
Speaking on the subject, Nataraja Sharma chief secretary of private bus federation said, "Government has to give us complete tax exemption for six months. For the next six months, they have to take only half the taxes from us. Otherwise, we will not operate the buses."
The protest will cause many obstacles for daily commuters. Only if the government holds discussion with the private bus owners and succeeds in arriving at a consensual agreement, then the private buses may start operating again in the state.
