Mangaluru, May 17: Two more cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Dakshina Kannada on Sunday May 17. One more case has been reported in Udupi district.
While one patient is a 31-year-old male (P-1094), the other one is a 34-year-old female (P-1095). Both have been admitted to Wenlock.
The 34-year-old woman arrived from Mumbai after inter-state travel was permitted for stranded citizens.
The source of the male patient's infection is being traced. However, sources said that he has travel history to Delhi.
The male patient is a resident of Jeppu Patna. It is learnt that he got himself tested after developing symptoms, and was found to have contracted the virus. The health officials are trying to trace his contacts and the source of the infection.
The woman arrived in Mangaluru from Mumbai on May 14. Her husband and child are also in quarantine. The family is from Yeyyadi in the city.
It is learnt that the woman is pregnant.
With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada has risen to 52, out of whom 44 patients are of Dakshina Kannada, one each from Bhatkal and Udupi, and four from Kerala, and one who arrived from Mumbai. Fifteen of the patients are Dubai returnees. Five deaths have occured so far.
