Udupi, May 16: Brahmavar police on Saturday, May 16, arrested a man accused of attempting to rape a woman on the pretext of offering help.
The arrested has been identified as Honnappa (34), a resident of Kadur, Chikkamagaluru district. He is currently residing at Alsebettu near Airody Village, Mabukala.
It may be recalled, according to the complaint filed by the woman, she was heading towards Santhekatte on foot, where her home is located. The guy in the motorcycle offered to drop her home, but instead, he rode her towards Baikady-Kunajal road to a nearby forest area. Growing suspicion of his intentions, she managed to flee from the spot and reach the police station at Brahmavar.
Based on the complaint, the Brahmavar PSI Raghavendra looked into the CCTV footage, and traced the motorbike KA 18 Q 3094 and arrested Honnappa.
The accused is working in a bakery at Santhekatte and residing in Mabukala from the past 20 years.
