Bengaluru: Government considers running of schools in two shifts

Bengaluru, May 16: In view of the necessity to maintain social distance, the department of primary and secondary education has prepared guidelines to run schools in two shifts.

For first to seventh standards, the shift will be from 7.50 am to 12.20 pm. For eighth to tenth standard students, classes are planned to be held from 12.30 pm to 5 pm. If the number of students in eighth to tenth standards is more, for them also two shift classes will be conducted.

Education minister S Suresh Kumar, said on Saturday that a meeting with experts will be held on Monday to prepare time table for SSLC examination. He said he has already spoken to several experts including Baragur Ramachandrappa on this issue, and asserted that the government is committed to conduct SSLC examination. He also said that the issue of whether to hold the SSLC examination will also be discussed and he has open mind on this issue. The minister also informed that the final dates of the exams will be revealed after May 18. All appearing candidates can check the date sheet on the official website of KSEEB a, kseeb.kar.nic.in, he said.

The minister said that the number of examination centres will have to be much more because of need to maintain social distance. "Some institutions and organizations have volunteered to provide face masks to students. We will also take steps to provide sanitizers," he added.

More than education,life is of utmost priority.kids life,health is most important nd also for others it's more important.only when virus scare goes off,can think of sending kids to school.Bcoz of one,1000's and lakhs, community spread shouldn't be entertained.postponing school reopen is the best option/going ahead with online classes is the better thing.so that everyone can send kids to school nd live without fear and mental stress.if it's compulsory to open earlier,we won't send kids as of now.let them stay safe first.then other issues.Do consider kids,parents,all people's lives.

There might be 100 or 1000 reasons to open schools and they might follow all the safety measures of the world..

As a parent I will not send my Son to school..For me educating him is important and more than that his life , his health is very important.
We paid fees as per school regulations, we will be happy if they continue online classes as they started now. As per today's situation I support Online classes for my Kid.

1918 pandemic first phase casualty was less. Second phase hit was very severe. If open schools now, Casualties will be more and it will definitely turn into community level where you cannot trace the root. Please analyse the situation and come up with correct decision.

Cos most of the schools, colleges and educational institutions are run by politician and their associates, so they are in hurry saying in the name of economical revival , as off now all people are traveling back to their respective home towns there is high of easy spread of infection it's very dangerous to reopen the schools risking the little angels, it is the most stupidest decision.

Parents are in no hurry to send their children to schools as well as colleges. It's better they are shut for a while bcause the easing of lockdown will 100% increase the infections manifold. It's better to wait & watch before giving permission. If one child tests positive, it'll be a very big issue to be handled by the school, the parent, the govt & our frontline workers. Let online classes be conducted till the situation comes under control. Pls dont be hasty.

What will they learn at the school? History geography? If you really want to educate your child start teaching them, what you think is important, real education is important,i don't remember one thing i learnt at school exception of science,stop with this hasty and unchecked decisions ,first remove lockdown,then reopen school,next reopen malls? Overuse of sanitizer can weaken the immune system, different symptoms may arise,dont think the alcohol you drink,can be very helpful if you use it from the outside,if its destroying the virus its also destroying your skin cells, and ,all these to be considered health? Where is the nutritional advice?we need stronger immune system,for that we indians really need some education,you need to start educating yourself of physical fitness which includes ,exercising,yoga,sports etc everyone please start taking care of your nutrtion ,if we all need to come out of this ,we are definitely going to get exposed but all we can focus on is strengthening our immune systems ,start exercising and eating real food ,wish all of you good health.

This is really sad move, understand 8th grade and above but why so compulsory to have session for any grade, can't government have some online app created by this time to have school classes conduct without any issue which are been faced off in pvt apps.

Why teacher's cant learn the skill to conduct online classes rather feeling pressure.

We really can't risk innocent soul for the some pressure which is been build by private lobby.

Is the world all about money making, their is no value for innocent soul whom we are putting in danger by such decisions.

Appreciable that you are taking measures for the development of kids education.But this initiative will lead our kids life and community fatal.
There are many clause If school gets opened, few i would like to note here.
1.School will sent circular, if any kids have corona symptoms, stay at home, not to come to school. One child takes off, followed many, we knew virus spreads fast and are asymptomatic.
Does school will be quarantine? No , only the area where child is living will be quarantine. It puts the other children and school employees under risk category.
2. Children are with less immunity. Early to acquire disease.
3. We are happy with online classes, let it go until the scenario settles down.
4. Everyday after sending child to school, it will be a mental stress for parents, whether there will be a safe return of our child.
5. We assure all institutions does not take preventive measures.
Please reconsider this initiative and save our precious child.

The decision to re-open the schools would be a disastrous move given the status of how covid-19 cases are progressing in Karnataka. The repercussions would be huge as it would be difficult for children to maintain social distancing and manage all safety norms while at schools.. Initially there may be more focus and attention from the parents and teachers but with time there are chances of complacency setting in all the safe practices followed which can give rise to a potential unsafe situation for both teachers, children and the society as a whole. Request the ministers and officials to revisit on the issue and take a decision after having proper analysis and study. It's even better if the kids lose one year rather than causing a situation which can have catastrophic effects on the entire nation.

What about working parents?

Should they take leave for next 2 years, assuming vaccine will be discovered by mid-2021. Vaccination production & given by 2022.

Overall India has 1.3 Billion people. If every month if 1 Crore people given vaccination,. It will take 12 years (Year 2034) to vaccinate every citizen India. Parallely, other countries should vaccinate it's own citizens.

Every month 5 Crore to 10 Crore vaccines need to be produced, assuming manufacturing facility is ready across the world & Vaccine discovered company gives the rights to produce vaccine at cheap rate.

Kind request on behalf of all the parents, request you to have online classes for the students from 1st to 4th . I would elaborate with a small example government has taken so may steps with lock down so that people do not come out of the house due to Covid-19, however people have taken theis issue so carelessly that they do iot know the consequences once they suffer from it and the epidemic is spreading so quickly. However if the children's are requested to come to school and on the other hand cleanliness and social distancing is maintaing , children's will not adhere to that. So it's a kind request to think on the above mentioned tip.

Thanks and hope u help.the citizens to be safe. I would conclude saying mother is the first teacher of a child and so she would be responsible to educate her kid during this situation.

Sorry to say this , you suggest online classes are best . But do you know how much an teacher experiences mental stress? Because neither the kids listen nor their parents and siblings keep quiet in the background. An teacher can't teach the kids in her method through online classes. Talk about mental stress - Do you realize the stress and pressure given to students of various universities and schools. As leaders people are supposed to understand concerns and respond to them with appropriate measures. As a degree student I'll say you that colleges have conducted online classes but did you do a research on what percentage of students actually understand the topic and that all of us arnt rank holder's. Stress isn't for one, it's for all including parents teachers leaders students., But taking a harsh decision like this will only spoil the safety and security of every citizen. We have to take a decision together and fight against covid 19 rather than take a decision like this. Economy or education can't be recovered but a fall in health care and safety won't be the same. Children do not obey anyone's command and they won't maintain social distance. This is my input to the situation.

The number of cases of 'COVID-19' in India is surpassed of China. The Karnataka with 1000 active cases this experiment with vulnerable children is not advisable.

In order to cover the loss of school days, the ministry should review the syllabus and reduce the number of chapters other than important subjects. Perhaps India is the only country in the world has more holidays than the working days need to be revisited to reduce the loss of days.

Lastly, Since the syllabus are covered scrap the leisure hours like sports, arts etc. May be increase half hour of school timings and for assembly, meeting etc will be feasible.

Its really surprising that reopening of schools is being considered when the number of Covid 19 cases are rising fast on a daily basis and no drug treatment nor reliable vaccine is yet available. Children and elderly are the ones whose immunity is on the weaker side compared to young adults. And this virus plays havoc with the immune system and causes fatalities. Its like offering our innocent children as easy targets for the virus to prey on. Will the government take responsibility if anything adverse happens to any children? School reopening can always be done later when there is some semblance of normalcy. To make up for list time, even if the academic year starts in September, closure can always happen in April 2021 or even mid May to make up for lost time. It is nothing but inviting disaster if schools are reopened in June or July just to make up for lost time without even thinking that our children could end up being victims of decisions made without applying our minds.

In Bengaluru, schools are situated in unplanned way in residential layouts throughing violating building byelaws, without proper infrastructure,these schools somehow they have managed to get permission from authorities reasons well known to the world and running schools. There is no parking facilities even to park cycles.there is no fire safety norms and no playground. Students will be walking on the road to play in a vacant site which away from the school. Five storey building in a 20ft road has been built and school is being run. Our complaints to BBMP, Education department and police have failed yield
any minimum expected results.
Under the given circumstances, is it possible to follow the carona gudelines and save life of children , parents and residents.. Atleast, now the concerned authorities should look into such schools and close or shift them to proper buildings immediately failing which God only should help all.

It's humble request to the education minister that understands the feelings of parents.
When we are using everywhere digitalisation then why not for education.

What will b the dropping facility, after collecting fee school management will sit quite against the standard SOP. They r not understanding parents trouble.

Vaccines are at-least 1 Year away, if ever found out & It will another 5-6 yrs to produce required amount of vaccine & give it to general public.

Assuming company holding Vaccine patent will not make cost of vaccine Rs.10,000/- vaccine

Treatment & Medicine are still in development stage. Development, Testing, Human Trial & final production (if a new medicine), will take at-least 1 - year more.

Somehow government wants to make money, now they want money through School Fees.....who’s gonna send their kids to school in this situation. Right now corona cases in India is 80k + and it’s increasing not not decreasing and government is saying to start schools.....ARE YOU CRAZY GOVERNMENT.

Forgetting everything about this ridiculous plan, also check the timings. 12 20pm all children of first shift will disperse in mere 10 minutes and the next shift will start at 12 30 without anyone from first shift touching anyone from second shift? What is wrong with the IQ of these people who make such stupid plans? The virus doesn't work that way! Fools! And what about sanitizing the entire campus? One more joke of a plan will happen with that also I'm already guessing!

Running the schools in two shifts to reduce the crowd of students and to ensure social distancing is an excellent Idea.
I think in Offices as well, to ensure lesser crowds and on Roads and Vehicles also, spreading the people in shifts is best available option for the time being!

The idea of two shift. who will provide transport to the student coming from far off places. Who will take responsibility there is social distance and God forbid if there is any corona spread who will take responsibility . Will the Minister take . I urge the Education minister S Suresh Kumar to think over his decision on conducting the two shifts, considering the fact that such a phenomenon can pose a major threat to the state and if not dealt with extreme care, can take lives of innumerable innocent children, authorities will be held responsible for the tragic consequences which will follow because of their foolishness in holding schools. So think twice.

The guidelines considered for conducting SSLC exams may be feasible, but SSLC exams must be held.There should be no second thought whether the exam must be held or not.It lays the foundation for higher education, as different credentials can be seen thru the performance by the students.A certain type of rumour is also doing rounds that the students wud be asked to write the exam from their own schools where they are studying,!.This wud lead to very highlevel of malpractices,
paving way for manipulated assessment.This will totally lead to drop in the quality of the students further down the line , detrimental to the quality of the knowledge and skills and talent.Hope the authorities will take care of this aspect .

This decision is a great risk for everyone present at school form teachers to students to staff and many more...It is a potential risk of getting contracted with the virus as social distancing is practically impossible for children at schools since they are young and fail to understand enough about the dangers of the virus. It is not essential to bring the students to school and focus only completing the portion. Observing their health and precaution should be your utmost priority. All parents strongly OPPOSE this action of the government. It's better if they carry it out on e-learning itself!

Sitting in a AC office and making decisions is easy. I would request you to come to the school from your native daily, and have a look as to how 1st, 2nd and 3rd standard students would maintain social distancing. Do you think these small kids would maintain social distancing ? Do you they would even know the definition of social distancing?

Whilst accepting that this is a challenging time, Government must first establish the criteria for commencement of next academic year, ensuring health and safety of children. Just maintaining the physical distancing in classes is not adequate but must also cover guidelines for common areas, Toilets, checking for infected children and training to teachers on how to handle in the changed situation.
Secondly, I do not think government should push for commencement of schools as of 1st June, unless above conditions are met. If Classes can not commence in June what is plan-B, is there a plan to commence online classes. I think we should be prepared for new ways of schooling.
Can education department look into current syllabus, and cut down unnecessary portions, burdening the children.
When all these aspects are looked into then think about conducting the classes. Having classes for children below 5th Standard should be delayed until the high school classes are stabilized.

The idea suggested by education minister S Suresh Kumar is good. The running of schools in two shifts will be only feasible as soon as coronavirus comes down to the minimum as of now there are still some cases going up in some places. COVID-19 is as we all know is a deadly disease and only prevention is the best.

Lets be honest here tgis minister will be sitting in his ac office and has 0% risk of getting the virus whereas all those students have high risk of getting it just call off everything now until corona comes to a normal state. Education is not importaant now as even the educated are struggling to get a vaccine. 10 std students till 5pm class most of the sslc students go for coaching, tuitions if you keep classes till 5pm how will they even go for coaching. How difficult will it be for parents and teachers. Even teachers are human they donot get paid a lot working till 5pm their whole day is gone they have kids too think. You are having a meeting on Monday best thing is just suspend indefinitly for now when in a state of experimenting with kids lets do not now. PLEASE
