Udupi, May 15: Another coronavirus positive case was confirmed in Udupi on Friday, May 15.
The patient has been identified as a one-year-old child who has been shifted to Dr TMA Pai Covid hospital.
The parents of the child, Dubai returnees, had tested positive in the morning on Friday.

The district health officer confirmed the same. The total number of active cases in Udupi has now increased to six.

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 15: It was a sad Friday for Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts as 16 and five people tested positive for coronavirus in the two districts respectively on Friday, May 15.
As reported earlier, 12 men including a 6-year-old boy is among the infected in DK. Three women were also tested positive. All are Dubai returnees. A 68-year-old woman from Surathkal also tested positive thus taking the total count to 16.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 41,141 people have been screened so far, including 46 on Friday. As many as 22 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Surathkal quarantine facility. Ten people are quarantined at ESI Hospital with one new admission today.

As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 4,880 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 4,675 tested negative, 50 positive, and 29 are currently active. As many as 16 persons have recovered and been discharged, and five deaths have occurred so far.
Out of the 50 positive cases, 44 patients are of Dakshina Kannada, one each from Bhatkal and Udupi, and four from Kerala.
Reports of 189 samples were received on Friday in which 173 tested negative and 16 positive.
Reports of 155 samples are awaited. As many as 24 persons have been admitted for observation.
A total of 3,300 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Friday, 12 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
According to press release from the deputy commissioner, Guddekopla area in Surathkal has been declared a containment zone after a woman from the area tested positive for coronavirus on Friday.
Further, in a press release, the private hospital which treated the now corona-positive lady from Surathkal, informed that the 68-year-old lady (P-1009), was referred from a hospital from Surathkal with diagnosis of Cardiomyopathy and skin lesions on the leg on May 12 at 10.55 pm. She was seen in the Emergency department and later shifted to Isolation ICU. She had one episode of low grade fever. She was treated and her symptoms improved. As the hospital follows all the guidelines of Government, the throat swab of the said patient was sent to Government Wenlock Hospital on May 13, The report came as positive on May 15 at 12 noon; hence as per the protocol the patient was shifted to government Wenlock Hospital at 3.30 pm.
In Udupi district, five people who arrived from Dubai here, tested positive on Friday. All have been admitted to Covid hospital. Currently, there are eight positive cases out of which three people have recovered and have been discharged from hospital.
A total of 3,030 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 33 on Friday, and a total of 3,693 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 30 on Friday. As many as 725 persons are currently in home quarantine.
Altogether, 12 high-risk persons and two low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 66 people are in isolation wards, including 13 fresh admissions on Friday. Six among them are COVID suspects while five have SARI and two influenza-like illness.
As many as 488 people, including 12 on Friday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 1,862 samples have been collected so far, including 31 on Friday. Out of them, 1,822 samples have turned out to be negative, and 133 reports are awaited.
