Udupi, May 14: Families which waited at different places of Maharashtra for long before getting clearance to return to their native villages, were once again made to wait near the border check post at Hejamady which happens to be the entry point for Dakshina Kannada district, on Wednesday May 13.
The families were from Bantwal, Beltangady, Sullia, Mangaluru and Moodbidri taluks. They underwent customary check at the Hejamady border and were asked to undergo quarantine. But they had to wait as there was delay on the part of the officials from their respective areas.
Even when calls were made, the officials did not respond. Some families complained that after reaching Hejamady check post at 10 am on Wednesday, they were whiling away time at the same spot even at 3 pm. The families which came here on the basis of permission given by Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner have to undergo quarantine in that district.
At the same time, two persons from Dakshina Kannada who obtained permission from Udupi deputy commissioner have to undergo quarantine in Udupi. If they have to be quarantined in Dakshina Kannada district, they have to apply through Seva Sindhu app and obtain consent from the deputy commissioner of that district, explained a village accountant on duty at the check post.
