Mangaluru: Coronavirus claims DK's fourth victim after 58-year-old woman passes away

Mangaluru, May 13: In a sad news, Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, May 13, recorded its fourth death due to novel coronavirus.

The victim, a woman, identified by number P-536, was a 58-year-old resident of Boloor. She passed away at 12.45 pm without responding to treatment.

She was admitted to Wenlock hospital on April 28 and was tested positive for coronavirus on April 30. The patient was said to be serious from the last few days and was shifted to ICU and was kept in a ventilator. 

It is said that this woman had been treated at First Neuro Hospital in the city a few days ago for brain-related ailment.

During the period she was in that hospital, she had come in contact with patient No 501 who works as a sweeper.

With this, the district has 16 active coronavirus cases. The total number of COVID-19 cases found in Dakshina Kannada district are 33 now. Four among them have died and 14 have been discharged.

    Like in US we too are labeling the deaths of patients who were most unlikely to have survived their pre-existing health issues without proper treatment without this infection.
    As far as D K is concerned it is not in any danger zone, but normal death count of the district is taken in previous years into account.
    According to some doctors & scientists who had been in research of viral infections for many years any infection would give false positive for corona test kits presently used.
    No need to panic or fear, gradual relaxation would ease the same within a few weeks or months with no more infections or death due to this viral infection which has its glory & now is the time for it to exit soon.

    So according to you the 75k people who have died in the US is not due to covid? To study the death rate of a pandemic, you have to compare the deaths due to influenza like illness from the past years and if there is an unusual spike, then it's due to the pandemic. Anti body tests in nyc have revealed that the virus may have affected much more than calculated. More so people dying have shown clear symptoms of the virus. A testing kit cannot give false results all the time.

    Nop you clearly don't know what your talking. Kerala is not using any Ayurveda. Main reason why kerala is so successful is that they had 2 viruses in the past and they know how to handle things

    Fourth corona death in D.K. is not at all good news. In Kerala state total number of death is 4. Full credit goes to their devouted medical team. Even in D.K. the best of best medical team should be appointed in Covid hospital so that death rate should be minimum. Luckily D.K doesn't have high number cases like Kasaragod, if we take strong right decisions, all may get cured fast and go out like Mysore and Kasaragod. And that may boosts the confidence of other patients and psychologically they may stay optimistic. Hope everything will be OK soon.

    Very true, Mortality rate in Mangalore is too high compared to any other places, something going wrong, please put more effort and try to bring them back to normal.

    In mangalore most cases are linked to the hospital. Since these patients had other health conditions they are having a higher risk of succumbing to the virus. This explains the high mortality rate here.

    Recovery depends on how the patient's body responds to the treatment. If 88 year old patient has better immunity and is not having other medical complications, his body responds well to the treatment. Where as if younger patient having low immunity and other medical complications might not respond well to the treatment.
