Udupi, May 13: People from the district were facing of problems in the absence of buses since the last some weeks. About six buses belonging to a private operator have begun to run between the town and Kundapur. These buses make trips with half-hourly intervals.
Owner of Bharathi Motors, Raghavendra Bhat, said that he has pressed buses into service for serving the people and in response to the request of the government. He said that currently, six buses are in operation and with each day, more buses would be run. He said he has undertaken this initiatively purely as a measure of serving the convenience of the people.
The buses have been equipped with sanitizers. Passengers without masks are being provided with face masks free of cost. After each trip, the entire bus is being sanitized. Driver and conductors have been instructed to always wear masks and hand gloves without fail.
KSRTC too has started to run its buses to Karkala, Hebri, Kundapur and Hejamady. But shortage of passengers was evident. On one occasion, an entire bus carried only one passenger.
