Bengaluru, May 12: Select passenger trains have begun to chug from today in an effort to inject vitality and vibrancy to the economy. The trains had stayed off the tracks for nearly two months. During the first phase beginning Tuesday, 15 special trains will be in service.
Those who have reserved seats in these trains can undertake travel subject to certain conditions. The passengers have to reach the railway stations 90 minutes in advance. This time will be utilized for screening, checks, and other processes. Wearing of masks is mandatory during the travel. The passengers are expected to bring their own blankets, bed sheets, food etc.

The trains will move to capital cities of 15 states from New Delhi including Bengaluru. The railway department has announced the time table and guidelines for passengers. Only one these special trains will pass through Karnataka coast. The train which will begin its journey from New Delhi on May 13 will reach Thiruvananthapuram on May 15. This train leaves New Delhi every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday. Its only stop in coastal Karnataka is Mangaluru. It does not have stops at Udupi and Karwar.
