Bengaluru, May 12: State BJP general secretary N Ravikumar, blamed Tablighi Jamaat of contributing for the speedy proliferation of coronavirus infection at many places in Karnataka and elsewhere in the country. He said that after the relaxation in lockdown, the Tablighis and Ajmeris have been escaping from the law enforcing authorities like thieves, moving between different states and have been responsible for the large scale spreading of the disease.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday May 11, Ravikumar criticized these groups of following a policy in which they want to spread the infection to others and being prepared to give up their own lives in the bargain. "No leaders of giving these people a sane advice. This appears to be a Jihad, nothing else. Still, intelligentsia and those who call themselves progressive thinkers are not voicing concern about this phenomenon," he angrily noted.

Ravikumar pointed out that 9,000 Tablighis who had taken part at a religious convention held at Nizamuddin mosque at New Delhi had spread coronavirus infection on a large scale. "As many as 1,890 Tablighis and 500 Ajmeris who had remained evasive then, are now spreading the infection in the second phase. The government must provide proper guarding system at the district borders and quarantine should be arranged under the government," he felt.
