Mangaluru, May 12: District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "We have to clear doubts in the public over the source of coronavirus cases in the district. There is need of collecting more details
over the same.”
The minister was speaking at a meeting held on Monday, May 11, with the expert medical team at the deputy commissioner’s office.
District health officer (DHO) Ramachandra Bayari said, "Pertaining to cases reported at Bantwal, First Neuro and Boloor, over 1,000 samples were taken. Seventeen among them turned positive in which eight were from Bantwal, three from First Neuro Hospital and six from Boloor. After one of First Neuro Hospital’s staff tested positive, all the primary contacts with the patient in the hospital underwent medical test. Several out-patients and in-patients from Kerala have been treated in the hospital and have been discharged earlier.

“Medical team will get in touch with Kerala government to trace the cases linked to First Neuro Hospital and Kerala patients will undergo coronavirus tests. Even patients from Madikeri and Chikkamagaluru have been treated at the hospital. Madikeri patients’ reports came negative.
“In Dakshina Kannada, 4,398 samples were taken in which 31 were tested positive. To submit a report over the source of coronavirus cases, we can come to conclusion only after the test reports of Kerala patients who have been treated in the hospital is received. We need more time to submit the report,” he said.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, Dr Bharath Y Shetty, nodal officer Ponnuraj, deputy commissioner Sindhu P Rupesh, zilla panchayat CEO Dr Selvamani and others were present.
