Bengaluru, May 3: As the lockdown over coronavirus outbreak has further extened, there is a possibility that the SSLC examinations and the remaining English examination of PUC will be delayed further.
The third phase of lockdown to control coronavirus pandemic has been extended by another two weeks. In addition, the number of infected people in certain districts is also increasing. This will have a direct impact on the pending SSLC and PUC examinations. Though the government has given the go ahead to conduct the examinations, sources says that there is no possibility of conducting these examinations for the time being.

Revision classes for SSLC students were also started on Doordarshan with the aim of holding the examinations after May 3. The education department had mulled conducting the examinations in the last week of May or first week of June in case the situation got better. However, as the lockdown has been extended by another two weeks, the government and the officials of the education department are in a fix as to when to hold these examinations.
Second PUC students also are concerned as they have written all the examinations except the English paper. The valuation of their answer papers also has not yet begun.
Umashankar, chief secretary, primary and secondary education department said, "All preparations has been done to conduct SSLC examinations without causing any inconvenience to the students. Within a few days of conducting the examination, we will do the valuation of answer papers and declare results."
Kangavalli, director of pre-university department said, "We will conduct English examination that is pending for second PUC students. The date will be announced after the completion of the the third phase of lockdown. We are holding discussions in this regard."
