Mangaluru/Udupi, May 1: Dakshina Kannada registered two cases of coronavirus on Friday, May 1. No new cases were reported in Udupi.
The two people to be tested positive today from Dakshina Kannada are a 69-year-old man from Bantwal and another 62-year-old man from Boloor. While former is the relative and the neighbour of the woman who died due to coronavirus infection on April 19, the latter is the husband of the woman from Boloor who was tested positive for coronavirus on April 30.

As of May 1, a total of 39,909 people have been screened in the district, including 135 on Friday. A total of 2,809 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 2,785 have tested negative and 24 positive. Nine cases are currently active, and 12 have been discharged. Three patients have died.
A total of 59 persons have been quarantined at NIT-K Suratkal, and 40 in ESI hospital.
Altogether 6,073 people have completed 28 days of home quarantine.
Six positive cases from places other than Dakshina Kannada were treated in Mangaluru.
As many as 236 reports were received today in which 234 tested negative and two positive. Reports of 662 samples are awaited which includes 351 samples sent for test on May 1 out of which 160 are sent to Hassan and 151 samples’ results are awaited from Wenlock.
As many as eight people are admitted for observation. As many as 2,079 patients have been treated at fever clinics. Fourteen people have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI). Twenty-four people have been treated in mobile fever clinic.
In Udupi district, no fresh cases were recorded on Friday. Three corona-positive patients have been cured and discharged from hospital till now.
As per statistics, a total of 3,606 persons, including 70 on Friday, have been detected, either with complaints of severe acute respiratory illness or contacts of corona-positive patients. Among them, 2,248 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 36 on Friday, and 3,032 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 71 on Friday.
A total of 489 people are presently under home quarantine.
Among those who are in hospital quarantine, 32 are high-risk, five low-risk. Three patients have been admitted to isolation wards on Friday, among whom two have influenza-like illness (ILI). Altogether, 48 persons are in isolation wards, while 346 have been discharged including six on Friday.
As many as 18 samples were collected on Friday, taking the total to 1,163. These include four samples of SARI symptoms, and 10 with ILI symptoms.
Out of the sample reports received so far, 1,113 have tested negative. Reports of 47 samples are awaited.
