Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passes away at 67

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai (AM)

Mumbai, Apr 30: Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away at H N Reliance hospital in the morning on Thursday, April 30.

The 67-year-old actor was suffering from breathing problem and thus admitted to the hospital by his family on Wednesday. His brother Randhir had confirmed the news. He had also said that he was in the hospital and wife and yesteryear actress Neetu was by his side.

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan was reportedly the first to confirm the news of Kapoor's death on Twitter.

The actor had returned to India last September after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year. Earlier, in February, Kapoor was hospitalised twice due to his health issues.

Kapoor, who was quite active on social media, had not posted anything on his Twitter account since April 2.

The actor had recently announced his next project, a remake of Hollywood film 'The Intern', also featuring actress Deepika Padukone.

A message from Rishi Kapoor’s family said, “Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukaemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.

“He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.

“He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.

“In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force.

“He would not have it any other way,” read the statement.

Rishi Kapoor and Irfaan Khan leave for there heavenly abode..!!
It's so uncanny...Irfaan Khan born in 1967 and died at the age of 53.
Rishi Kapoor born in 1953 died at the age of 67. 1967 plus 53=2020 and
    1953 plus 67 = 2020.

    Oh my God!
What is happening? Shocking shocking shocking ! First COVID-19 taking so many away, then par excellence Irfan khan gone yesterday, and now Rishi Kapoor jee. Both taken away by cancer! Really shattering.

Though born with silver spoon , with all the support from the first family of bollywood , struggled to make his own niche and status . Though a poor patch in his legendry father Raj ; uncle Shammi and Sashi as for their class as actor, his response to social causes and hardship of common man amazed me. May his genere get a long live Tum hamesha Amar ho !

Rest in peace legendary Rishi Kapoor jee

It is very sad to know that veteran actor Rishi Kapoor is no more. It is unbelievable that he passed away so soon after fighting a battle with leukemia for two years. Me and my wife wanted to see him when he was admitted in a hospital in New York but due to restrictions on visitors we were unable to do so. I had a chance to see him with Anupam Kher in Manhattan, New York after he was discharged from the hospital. They both were strolling around. May the soul of Rishi Kapoor RIP. Our deepest sympathies to Neetu Singh Kapoor, and his entire families and loved ones. The entire film industries will miss him for his versatile acting. He was one of my best actors of all times.

Rishi kapoor is all about acting plus personal charisma . If a person who knows nothing about him watches his acting , instantly can fall in love , this talent of gelling in every character . I became of his big fan after watching his RAUF LALA character in agneepath and recently for his versatile acting in film THE BODY with emraan hashmi , his straight forward attitude and being honest with every conversation makes him interesting personality , so he will forever be cherished in every character he performed .

We all grown-up watching films of Rishi...like Rafoo Chakkar..to Kabhie Kabhie to Amar Akbar Anthony.....!! His last wish not fulfilled. He recommended Maha Govt..to keep open wine shops for few hours. Family which migrated from peshwaar..made there own name in film infustry. Most of popular kapoors all gone one by one...Raj to Shammi to Shashi..now Rishi.
Tumko Mere Dil Ne Pukaar Hai...Warna...Apni Awaaz...Mila Lo...
