Mangaluru, Apr 22: “Assaults on doctors, police personnel and Asha workers working as corona warriors will be viewed seriously. They will be sent to jail after registering gunda Act cases against them,” warned Dakshina Kannada district in charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He addressed a meet after handing over food kits donated by SCDCC bank to the journalists at Mangaluru press club.
“The lathis and revolvers given to police are not for display, but for self defense. Assaults on them cannot be tolerated. Strict action is inevitable,” he said.
“Mujrai department distributes food in every temple. The cooperation of everybody is necessary to control the pandemic. Stringent action is directed against those who assault people going for inspection,” he said.
“We have reached a stage where we have to live keeping safe distance from each other. Communication at the borders is broken. The lives of those who were doing small jobs have collapsed. We are with you even in such conditions. Our togetherness is praiseworthy,” he said.
SCDCC bank president, Dr M N Rajendra Kumar said that everybody should reach out to those in need in such trying circumstances. “The bank is prepared to provide urgent need anytime.” MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Y Bharath Shetty were present. Patrakartara Sangha president, Srinivas Indaje welcomed the gathering. Former president P B Harish Rai compered the programme. Pushparaj B N thanked the gathering.
Free medical examinations will be held for journalists as they indulge in coronavirus awareness.
