Udupi, Apr 22: It is quite a regular feature in these lockdown days for celebrities, people's representatives, NGOs to play an active role in the distribution of food kits to the poor and needy families.
Not everyone may have the ability to help others, but sure enough even a helping hand in a small way can make a major difference toward spreading cheer.
Fisherwoman Sharada affectionately known as Sharadakka from Odabandeshwar in Malpe, suits this category best.
Though she leads an ordinary life, her noble work is a matter of pride. Living in a tiny shed, her kind-heartedness has helped several people making her a role model in society.
She sells fish for a living. Her generosity and kindheartedness are remarkably shown through her aid to 140 poor families during the lockdown period. From her meagre earnings, she distributed 5 kg of rice.
She says, "I must serve others in difficult times. If I was able to continue this service, I would do as much as I could for those facing hard days."
Her generosity has earned her great applause far and wide.
