Mangaluru, Apr 12: While scores of people across the nation have been stranded due to the imposition of lockdown as a measure to contain the spread of coronavirus, a gesture from MLA U T Khader to bring back a Mangaluru lady stranded in Bengaluru has won appreciation.
Madhu Bhat, daughter of Shriram Bhat, a resident of Kulai here, was stranded in Bengaluru after arriving from Italy. She has now been reunited with her family here, thanks to Khader's efforts.
Madhu had boarded the last flight from Italy on March 22, and reached Delhi. She was then put under quarantine, as required of all foreign returnees.
After she was released from quarantine, she came to Bengaluru by a special bus on April 10, but then got stranded in the capital city with no means of transportation to travel to Mangaluru. All modes of transportation are currently suspended due to rise in coronavirus cases, and the entire country is under lockdown.
On learning of her plight, Khader took it upon himself to help the lady, and arranged his own car to bring her safely back to Mangaluru. She is now in her home at Kulai. Madhu and her family thanked the MLA for his generous gesture.
