Mangaluru, Apr 10: MLA Dr Bharath Shetty said that distribution of food kits for poor and downtrodden of the society will continue till the lockdown period ends in the country and state.
He was speaking after distributing food kits to beneficiaries at the BJP office at Kavoor on Thursday, April 9. He further said, "In the first phase we have distributed 12,500 food kits. Now 10,000 kits are being readied. The kit contains rice, wheat, sugar, pulse, oil, groundnut and soap. In addition, 15,000 masks are also distributed to prevent spread of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.
"In the first phase in 245 booth level food items worth Rs 50 lac is given to needy people. We are also giving pamphlet to create awareness of the coronavirus pandemic. Further plan is made to distribute food kits worth Rs 45 to 50 lac,” he said.
North mandala BJP president Tilak Raj Krishnapura, MCC members Jayananda Anchan, Lohith Amin, Rajesh Kottari, Sandeep Pacchanadi and Vittal Salian were present.
