UAE suspends entry of residency visa holders currently abroad, issues guidelines

Daijiworld Media Network – Dubai (AM)

Dubai, Mar 19: The entry of all its valid visa holders who are currently out of the country has been suspended by the UAE, for a renewable period of two weeks effective 12 noon of Thursday, March 19, due to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

This move from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of those who are valid visa holders and currently outside UAE. The renewals will depend on the health status measures taken.

Those holding valid UAE visas and are now staying in their countries of origin have to contact the UAE diplomatic missions in their respective nations for all necessary support and to streamline their return back to the UAE. Those who are currently outside the UAE for business considerations have to contact their employers in UAE as well as Emirati diplomatic missions in their host countries for all necessary support to facilitate their return back to the UAE. Those who are now on vacation have to contact UAE diplomatic missions in their respective host countries for all necessary support to facilitate their return back to the UAE.

Taking a decision as part of the preventive and precautionary measures taken to contain the spread of coronavirus, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has urged the families and relatives of those affected by the decision to get in touch with the ICA via the following contact numbers to get updated on all the measures they have to pursue:

It won't be long for those residents whose visas are suspended or cancelled before they become stateless. That will be tragic for them.

Good and wise decision by UAE government. This is for the safety of the country as covid-19 can spread when more people from outside coming into UAE. Prevention is the only medicine for this deadly disease as so far there is no cure.
