Mangaluru, Mar 11: Padma Shri awardee Harekala Hajabba highlighted the need to save government schools from shutting down.
Speaking at an achievers programme held at the University College on Wednesday, March 11, he stressed that government schools should provide quality education. “There are many students who have studied in government primary and high schools, faring well in their career and life. We should not neglect government schools. Effective
projects need to be planned, to save the schools,” he said.
“It took me decades to realize the importance of education. A few incidents in my life, made me realise that with education one cannot be fooled easily. Education is a must to develop sincerity, personality and will help in inspiring others,” he said.
When asked, who inspired him, Harekala Hajabba said, “I was not inspired by anyone. When I was selling oranges, I faced few incidents which made me start a school. To make the school possible, I had to plead with many people and am still striving to develop the school.”
