Bantwal, Mar 7: Second PU happens to be a crucial stage, performance in which can make or mar one's future or career. This puts enormous pressure on the minds of the students and therefore the people close to them need to assure them that poor performance in this examination is not the end of the road.
In an unfortunate incident reported from Vogga located within the limits of the rural police station here, a second pre-university (PU), science stream, student jumped into a well and ended his life. This incident happened at around midnight on Friday, March 6.
The student who gave up his life in this fashion was Nandan, a student of SVS School here. Nandan was a brilliant student. He had obtained 94 percent marks in SSLC examination and continued to perform excellently in the PU class.
Nandan has left behind a letter in which he has explained that he decided to end his life as he expected that his performance in the physics examination which he had attempted could be below the expected level. He felt that the question paper on this subject was tough and feared that he might not get the marks which he was hopeful of getting.
On Friday night, the student was seen to be studying even till 12 am. At 12.30 am, his mother got up and saw that her son was not to be seen. The family members began to search for him fervently, upon which his mobile phone was found in the garden. His mortal remains were found inside a nearby well.
Bantwal (rural) police station sub-inspector Prasanna and other staff visited the spot and registered a case.
