Media Release

Jubail, Nov 7: After three weeks of exciting cricket, the first-ever expatriate cricket extravaganza of Saudi Arabia, AMACO Cricket Carnival drew to close in an exhilarating closing ceremony at Dywidag Cricket Ground here on Friday November 6.

The AMACO cricket carnival which included three different cricket tournaments, AMACO T20, AMACO Digital Cup and AMACO Champions Trophy ended with this colourful closing ceremony. The final of the AMACO Champions Trophy between AMACo Cricketers (Manglaore India) and Classic of Pakistan was the event of the day at the closing ceremony with all glamour and obsession associated with cricket between two rival countries.

It was first of its kind and never heard in the history of cricket in Saudi Arabia. AMACO Company made it possible by setting a stage for perfect entertainment.

Dywidag Cricket Ground here which was all set for this Grand Final between Classic and Amaco Jubail with more than 700 cricket loving expatriate spectators. The fact that two cricket teams from India and Pakistan facing each provided much needed hype and curiosity and thus made it less exciting as the real India-Pakistan cricket match. The cricket crazy supporters of both the teams were on their toes to see their team winning the trophy

The match started with national anthem of India and Pakistan. AMACO captain Asif after winning the toss elected to field first. The tough spell by Zubair derailed the Pak-side with the firing openers Moin and Abbas struggling for run in the initial over of power play. Classic were able to score just six runs from first 3 overs. Tafseer gave first breakthrough to AMACO when he got Abbas out through a thrilling catch at deep cover point by Nazeer. After the drinks break it was Ameer and Rauf, who put up important partnership of 35 runs. It was zubair who picked 3 wickets in an over. Classic were able to score just 117 in 16 overs losing all the wickets.

In reply AMACO began by losing the wicket of Imran for a duck. Allrounder Xubair joined captain Asif and added some quick runs with back to back boundaries and some huge sixes. Zubair in his usual style went berserk and charged all over the ground making 58 runs in just 26 balls. After zubair it was Asif, who took the responsibility and entertained the spectators hitting some huge sixes which helped the team to reach the target without opting for the batting power play in 12 overs losing just three wickets. Man of the match and maximum six hitter was Zubair of AMACO.

Boundaries, sixes and wicket fall were cheered with live band in action. Innings break was covered up with some wonderful dancing and singing. Once the final match was over, the stage was occupied by the famous singer Iqbal to etertaining the cricket crazy crowd with penultimate enjoyment before the awarding ceremony where passionate cricket lovers joined the chorus for an open field dance.

Then came the ever awaited presentation ceremony. Mehtab Alam of Dywidag was guest of honour along with Das and Farooque. AMACO captain Asif appreciated the wonderful assistance and support rendered by Mehtab Alam in arranging the ground and felicitated him with a memento. A kind of reality show followed the presentation ceremony, where in 10 best players of the year was chosen by involving the audience. The best played adorned the stage one by one with the sound and fury of their fans. Zubair of AMACO was awarded with cricketer of the year for his scintillating 24 wickets, 258 runs and 4 catches. Best umpires, grounds men volunteers were awarded with beautiful mobile phone sets. A lucky draw was conducted with a costly mobile phone as q grand prize.

Finally, after the award ceremony, the stage was once again vacated for singers and dancers on popular demand. Asif of AMACO addressed the gathering and said the intention of conducting this tournament in this mega style was to provide entertainment to Mangaloreans and cricket lovers of the subcontinent.
