Mangaluru, Feb 17: The audition round of MCC Bank Ltd ‘Soad-5’ Mangoa’, a Konkani TV singing reality show, started at Kalaangann here on Sunday February 16. The contest is being organized Mandd Sobhann, in association with goanworld.com Goa, Daijiworld 24x7 and GCTV Goa and directorate of Art and Culture, government of Goa.
Anil Lobo, chairman, MCC Bank Ltd, inaugurated the contest by unveiling the mike in the presence of Joy Fernandez of Goanworld.com, Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld Media Group and Louis Pinto, president of Mandd Sobhann.
Eric Ozario, Gurkar, Mandd Sobhann and Stany Alvares, vice president, Mandd Sobhann, were present.
On Sunday, February 16, first part of selection auditions of gents and ladies categories was shot. A total of 71 songs were recorded from 10.30 am to 11 pm. As many as 141 participants from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod districts registered for the auditions.
Eric Ozario, Zeena Pereira and Ashwin D’Costa were the judges for the first round. Roshan Crasta Bela and team provided music.
Arun Raj Rodrigues is the anchor of ‘Soad-5’, which will be telecast on Daijiworld 24x7 and GCTV Goa channel soon.
The second part of the selection auditions will be shot on Sunday, February 23 from 8 am onwards at Kalangann. Goa auditions are scheduled to be held at Art and Culture Hall, Panjim at 9 am on March 1. Audition round and preliminary round will be shot in Goa and all other rounds will be shot at Kalaangann, Mangaluru.
Winners of the contest will get 'Ranni Kogul' and 'Ray Kogull' titles along with Rs 50,000 cash prize and other gifts. The winners will be appointed as Konkani youth ambassadors. Top 10 contestants will receive Rs 10,000 each. There will be eight rounds starting with auditions. Contestants entering the top 10, will perform live for the audience at Kalaangann.
Mandd Sobhann which initiated the TV reality show in Konkani has already presented Soad 1, Soad 2, Soad 3 International and Soad 4 successfully in the last 15 years.
The show, aimed at encouraging and fostering young, budding singers and provide them a big stage to show their talent to take Konkani singing to greater heights and build bridges between Mangaluru and Goa, will be seeking to find really good talents.
All episodes including auditions will be telecast on Daijiworld TV and GCTV Goa.
