Mangaluru, Feb 17: "The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) brought into force by the government does not snatch citizenship of anyone. All the protests now going on against CAA are politically instigated," said Rajy Sabha member Swapan Dasgupta.

He was speaking at a lecture - cum - interaction programme about CAA organized at Hotel Taj Gateway here on Sunday February 16 under the aegis of Citizens Forum.

"National Register of Citizens is very much necessary to identify illegal immigrants who have sneaked into India. CAA and NRC do not create any problems for the Muslims living in India," he reiterated. CAA gives citizenship to people whether they Hindus or belong to other minorities who came into India from Pakistan and Bangladesh after undergoing religious persecution there. Politically motivated people have been misleading the people and convincing them to take part in protests," he felt.

Das explained that NRC has been proposed to identify the citizens from other countries. In the interests of t he safety of the country, it is very much necessary to identify people who have entered India from neighbouring countries illegally. In the eyes of law, these measures are mandatory," he stated.

He said that NRC and SPR are for the good of the country, and people are being instigated to hold protests by giving them wrong information. The opposition is spreading false propaganda that the Muslims will be driven out NPR exercise is undertake none very ten years.

O this occasion, Swapan Dasgupta was presented with a cheque. There is no proposal to collect details of the birth dates of parents and forefathers a being made out to be. States cannot say they will not enforce this law as it is a central law. They would be going against the constitution if they do so," he stated.

Joker of the day. If CAA will not affect anyone, why bjp govt is so adament to implement it. Its very very clear that bjp is working on sanghi agenda who have determined to give utmost hard time to Muslims and they are using bjp govt to carry out their agenda. BJP has never worked for the benefit of Muslims and it will be a day dream to expect anything from bjp. CAA will definately hard Muslims and this is the reason why bjp is adament and implementing it. Those who trust are fools and andh bhakts. Any muslim who trust bjp has sold himself in the hands of bjp for money and he has no moral right to call himself as Muslim. CAA will effect poors of other religions also and in case it has no effect on any will be of Brahmin only. CAA is nothing but initiative of NRC by which Sanghis are trying to keep minorities mainly muslims, Adivasis, OBCs , ST/SCs etc away from Govt facilities and treat them as 2nd citizens who will be in the country but without any rights. This is hidden agenda of sanghis and bjp is implementing it with wicked smile on face. BJP leaders are not trust worthy and they are hiding the reality. They are keeping everyone in darn.
