Bahrain, Oct 26: Rami Musical Concert that was organized by Kannada Sangha, Bahrain , at the swimming pool lawns of Delmon International Hotel, here, as part of Diwali celebrations was a memorable evening especially for the Kannadiga expatriates in the gulf nation of Bahrain.
The popular Sandalwood playback singer Anuradha Bhat, musician Ganesh and upcoming singer Ester Noronha mesmerized the audience by singing the all time hits of various languages, especially from Kannada movies, for almost four hours.
Anuradha Bhat sang both old hits and new songs of Kannada movies, besides Hindi, Tamil and Tulu songs. Ganesh also sang Kannada hit songs and Hindi hits songs of Bollywood legendary singers Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar and others. The singing truly transpired the audiences to the old times. The singing of promising singer Ester Noronha to the hit songs of Hindi, Spanish and English was applauded by the viewers with standing ovation. The music troupe Musical City provided the background score for the musical concert.
Moodbidri MLA K Abayachandra Jain was the chief guest on the occasion while Rami Group of Hotels general manager Shantharam Shetty too was present.
The programme began with ‘Mangalam Ganesham’ classical dance by Puja Suresh, Smruti Shetty and Shruti Hegde, directed by Bahrain’s dance director Chandrakala Mohan.
Kannada Sangha chief secretary Anil Basani delivered the welcome address. MLA Abayachandra Jain, Shantaram Shetty and Asha Shetty couple, Sangha president Austin Santosh Kumar, office-bearers of sangh collectively inaugurated the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Abayachandra Jain said that he was amazed over the number of Kannadiga expatriates in Bahrain. Despite arriving at Bahrain to earn, the spirit of Kannadigas in promoting Kannada and its distinct culture and traditions is commendable, he said.
Jain also invited all Tulu – Kannadiga expatriates to attend Vishwa Tulu Sammelan scheduled to be held in Ujire, Beltangady, during December; as some of them are likely to come on vacation during this period to undivided Dakshina Kannada district. He also urged the Kannadigas’ to extend their contributions towards the Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund, in aid of recent flood victims in North Karnataka.
The audience contributed Rs 1 Lac towards CM’s Flood Relief Fund.
Shantaram Shetty said that he will extend his support for all the programmes of Kannada Sangha.
MLA Abhayachandra Jain felicitated organizers, sangh president Austin Santosh Kumar, Satish Yedanadu, Vijay Kumar Brahmavar, Mansoor, Hanif and Kamalaksha Amin. He also felicitated veteran singers Anuradha Bhat, Ganesh, Ester Noronha, advertising material designer D Ramesh, dance directors Chandrakala Mohan and Laxmisha Kotekar.
The entry tickets of ‘Shabarimalai Ayyappa’ Yakshagana play which will be staged in November, was released. Entertainment committee Dhoomanna Rai proposed the vote of thanks.
