Bahrain, Oct 26: The Royal Tulu Koota here, presented its first Tulu social-cum-comedy play titled, ‘Ajjig Yerla Ijji’ at Delmon International Hotel Pool Side recently. Tulu is a beautiful language having its roots in coastal Karnataka and the play was aimed at entertaining the lovers of Tulu language, living here.
The programme began at 8.15 pm, with its organizer, Karmar Nagesh Shetty, welcoming the guests, followed by an introduction of the actors.
The cast of the play comprised Nayana Sachin, an illustrious artiste of the renowned Tulu drama troupe led by Vijay Kumar Kodialbail, Mangalore. It also included, among others, Suresh Jodukal, who has successfully played the role of a female in this play in Mangalore over 50 times. Nirmal Kumar, well-known musician, provided the background music. These artistes had been flown all the way from Mangalore to ensure the success of the play.
The cast also included 18 local artistes, Poornima Jagadish, Mohandas Rai, George Menezes, Sanjeev Shetty, Sadanada Ameen, Laxmeesh Bhat, Sujay Pinto, Nelson Menezes, Praveen Shetty, Karunakar Padmashali, Jagdeesh Jeppu, Umer sahib, Rajesh Shettigar, Ashok Suvarna, Pranam Raj shetty, Rajesh Shetty, Anil Naik and Usha Kiran Mahesh. The actors were able to captivate the audience with their wonderful performances on that evening. The play was directed by Mohandas Rai and written by Harish Padubidri.
Moodbidri MLA, K Abhaychandra Jain, was the special guest for the evening, along with Kannada Sangha Bahrain president, Santosh Austin and former president, A D Mohan.
The organizer, Karmar Nagesh Shetty, appreciated and honoured the artists. The show came to a close with the vote of thanks proposed by Doomanna Rai.
Over 800 people enjoyed this play thoroughly.
