Bengaluru, Feb 4: A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the state high court, questioning the validity of July 31 2019 notification issued by the union government asking the concerned to undertake field work through house to house visits to put together individual information for the revision of National Population Register (NPR).
The PIL which was filed on behalf of People's Union for Civil Liberties, came up for consideration before a division bench headed by Chief Justice A S Oka on Monday February 3.
After hearing the arguments the high court observed that this issue cannot be taken up for hearing by the high court as a similar petition is already under the consideration of the Supreme Court. The bench adjourned the hearing to March 30 after instructing the advocate and the petitioners to provide information about cases pending in the Supreme Court in this connection.
