Udupi, Jan 8: “Udupi Paryaya should be celebrated with pomp and gaiety like village feast. The district administration should make suitable arrangements for devotees arriving from distant places,” said district in-charge minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He was speaking after presiding over preparatory meeting for Paryaya held in Udupi Sri Krishna Math on Tuesday. “The state government has provided Rs three crore and district administration and municipal council another Rs 11 crore for Paryaya. Shelter, drinking water toilets and transport facilities should be provided to devotees to make Paryaya a success,” he said.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat said that Ishapriya Sripada will enter in procession on January 8 at 2 pm. “Hore Kanike will be accepted only from Adamaru math and Malpe. Horekanike will be received once in 15 days except Ekadashi after Paryaya,” he said.
“Paryaya procession will begin on January 18 at 2 am. Paryaya darbar at 2.30 pm will be chaired by Ishapriya Theertha Sripada. Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, union minister Nirmala Sitharaman and several elite people will take part. Special cultural programmes will be held from January 18 to January 22. Environment friendly banners will be used for the first time,” he said.
Additional deputy commissioner said that roads and street lights are being repaired. “Toilets are being constructed. Police will provide security. Tableaus reflecting the programmes of all the departments in the district are prepared. Officials should remain in the headquarters and take precautions. Tourism department will display matters pertaining to the district in LED screen. CCTVs are installed in main junctions. Officials and department officials should do their work in unity for success of the programme,” he said.
Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha said that tour package is prepared by KSRTC for devotees. “Preparations are being conducted for the last three months,” he said.
“Tenders are invited to keep the city clean, more than 30 toilets are constructed in 12 places and water is made available,” he said.
Minister and MLA visited Admar Math and received blessings from Vishwapriya Sripada.
Zilla panchayat CEO Preeti Geylot, Karkal MLA Sunil Kumar, SP Vishnuvardhan, council president Anand Kallolikar, Krishna Seva Samithi members, math staff and officials of various departments were present.
