Puttur: Man facing charge of abduction, sexual harassment of minor, gets bail

Puttur, Dec 2: The state high court has granted bail to a person of Assam origin who is facing the charge of abducting a minor girl from here and sexually harassing her.

The accused, Akhter Hussain of Assam origin, who was working for a resident of Kattattar, Keyyoor in the taluk, reportedly had kidnapped a minor girl from the house where he worked.

The police, who received the complaint of kidnap, had registered the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, had, during their investigation, developed suspicion about the girl having been taken to Assam. They went there, found out the girl, and brought her back. On the basis of information provided by her, the accused was taken into custody from Kerala. Upon producing him in the court, the court had remanded him to judicial custody.

Now the high court has upheld his bail application and released him on bail.
