Bengaluru: Thieves hoodwink 22-year-old with dirt and escape with his money

Bengaluru, Nov 21: A 22-year-old was hoodwinked by two men, who stole Rs 2.5 lac by splashing dirt on him.

Amal Vincent works as an office boy at a garment factory owned by Jaison Anthony. On Monday, Amal was sent by his employer to Syndicate Bank located on Banaswadi Main Road to withdraw Rs 2.54 lac. The money was meant to be given as salaries to the garment factory workers.

At around 12.30 pm, Amal placed the cash in a bag and stepped out of the bank. A person stopped him at the gate and said his shirt is covered in dirt. He also offered Amal a bottle of water to clean the dirt stain on his shirt. Amal, placed his bag on the ground and started cleaning his shirt. The man, who offered the water grabbed the bag and escaped with an accomplice waiting for him on the bike.

However, Amal was not the one to give up. He chased the thieves on his bike but lost track of them at a traffic signal. Amal has filed a complaint at Banaswadi police station.

Money kept in bike stolen

In another case, thieves stole Rs 50,000 kept in the boot space of the scooter. The money belonged to 62-year-old Subramani, a resident of Sultanpalya.

The theft happened in RT Nagar. Police have obtained CCTV footage from a nearby supermarket which shows two men opening the bike seat lock and taking the money.

RT Nagar police have registered a case and are on a lookout for the culprits.
